Lorne was a chartered accountant in Canada for 12 years before Pharmacy school and a post-doctoral residency. After serving as director of Clinical Services, and then director of Pharmacy Services at a Florida hospital, he developed and served in a National Pharmacist position at a large for-profit hospital corporation. He was responsible for developing and implementing National policies regarding formulary, anticoagulation, and controlled substances. He served as consultant regarding hospitals and hospital systems in formulary development and management and drug use policy, and implementation of Cerner and Epic data systems. He has written and presented numerous research projects on pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research. Lorne has also been teaching outcomes research and hospital pharmacy practice as an adjunct for several years. Recently, Lorne accepted a position at UNC Health leading the Outcomes Research program, mentoring pharmacists in outcomes research, and doing pharmacoeconomic analysis for formulary decision making.
Lorne has been a member of ISPOR since its origination and served as its treasurer for 3 years. He has taught their “Introduction to Pharmacoeconomics” course 27 times at International and European conferences.
